No specific qualifications are required to become a volunteer with Nasha Mukt Bharat. We welcome people from all backgrounds and skill sets. Your passion, dedication, and willingness to make a difference are the most important qualities. We provide comprehensive training for all volunteer roles.
We understand that everyone has different availability. You can volunteer for as little as 2-4 hours per week or more if you wish. We have flexible options including one-time event volunteering, regular weekly commitments, or project-based roles. During the application process, you can indicate your availability, and we'll find opportunities that match your schedule.
All volunteers receive a comprehensive orientation and role-specific training. This includes understanding addiction, communication skills, confidentiality protocols, and specific skills needed for your volunteer role. We also provide ongoing support, regular check-ins, and advanced training opportunities as you continue your volunteer journey with us.
Yes, absolutely! Many of our most dedicated volunteers have personal experience with addiction, either directly or through a loved one. This lived experience can be incredibly valuable in supporting others. We recommend that individuals in recovery have at least one year of sobriety before volunteering in direct support roles, but we have many other opportunities available regardless of where you are in your journey.
We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities including awareness campaign support, school program facilitation, event organization, administrative support, helpline assistance, peer support, family counseling assistance, social media management, content creation, and more. During the application process, we'll match your skills and interests with available opportunities.
We typically respond to volunteer applications within 5-7 business days. After your initial application, you'll be invited for an orientation session where you can learn more about our work and the specific volunteer opportunities available. The entire onboarding process usually takes 2-3 weeks from application to starting your volunteer role.
